PURPOSE, VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
UHN launched its Purpose, Values and Principles
(PVP) in December 2016. Our purpose is to
transform lives and communities through excellence
in care, discovery and learning.
Volunteers enhance the patient experience by being
present in the clinics, bedside, and throughout the
hospital, assisting patients, family members, visitors
and staff, which in turn aids in making sure our most
important value is met – to make the needs of the
patient come rst.
We promote safety by ensuring all new and current
volunteers are trained fully in their role prior to
starting their placement. We show compassion
through the many volunteers who assist patients
daily on the units and throughout the clinics. We are
committed to teamwork by helping UHN staff
supervisors make the best possible patient
experience through our volunteering opportunities.
We show integrity by being respectful and
responsible during our shifts, and we practice
stewardship by working ef ciently and effectively in
all we do.
